A Walk in the Marina (2)

The marina and promenade under a crisp morning sun, 3 November 2006. JBR towers ablaze in the background.

Dubai Marina is home to a slowly growing residential community. Although a great number of residential towers surround the Marina, most are U/C and won't be ready for habitation for some months or years to come. With a bit of exageration one could say the number of residents just equals the number of towers.

An early morning stoll would seem to confirm this. The promenade pavement on an early Friday morning is mostly empty, save for a few workers. The noise of construction activity, however, can already be heard.

A Walk in the Marina is one chapter in a novel-in-progress being written as part of the National Novel Writing Month. It offers a verbose rendering of the look and feel of the Marina without the aid of pictures. Simply called Dubai Marina (A Novel), the developing story is a fictional account that takes place in the backdrop of the Dubai Marina.

A Walk in the Marina (1) is a brief (earlier) post describing the sights and sounds of the location in November 2005.
